<image:title>Kobi Bordoley - Kobi Bordoley</image:title>
<image:caption>Associate Psychotherapist kobi@embodiedmindnyc.com Kobi joined Embodied Mind as a clinical intern, and completed his Masters in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at NYU in 2023. Prior to joining Embodied Mind, he worked at the Civilian Complaint Review Board, investigating allegations of police misconduct in New York City, in an operations position at a social media tech start-up, and as a freelance romance fiction writer and editor (among other roles!). Before entering the adult working world, Kobi received a BA in History, Literature, and Philosophy with certificate in Jewish & Israel studies from Wesleyan University. As a onetime liberal arts student and career changer, Kobi understands that the path to growth and self actualization often takes us in unexpected directions. Kobi enjoys drawing on not just his counseling studies, but his entire academic and life experience when connecting with clients. Kobi approaches therapy from a place of curiosity, and is interested in the existential struggles and triumphs of being a person in the 21st century. How do we define ourselves? How do we get what we want from our relationships? What does it actually “feel” like to feel something? Overall, he believes that therapy must be non-judgmental and affirming while simultaneously challenging and flexible in its methods. Kobi knows that different types of therapy work for different types of people, and uses an integrative approach that draws on psychodynamics, relational psychotherapy, attachment theory, Gestalt, Internal Family Systems, CBT, social justice, sex positivity, and trauma-informed methods to best serve people. Kobi specializes in helping clients understand identity (be it gender, sexuality, faith, ideology, or something else), chronic illness, relationships, trauma and anxiety/depression. Outside of therapy, Kobi enjoys reading, playing board and card games, collective music experience, exploring mindfulness, and phenomenology.</image:caption>

<image:title>Carly Barocas - Carly Barocas</image:title>
<image:caption>Associate Psychotherapist carly@embodiedmindnyc.com Carly brings compassion and a diverse educational background to support clients on their journey toward mental wellness. With a Bachelor's degree from Elon University combining Psychology and Art and a Master's in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from NYU Steinhardt, Carly offers a unique blend of analytical and creative approaches to therapy. She works with couples who've gone from easy Sunday mornings to walking on eggshells, and individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, or life transitions that feel impossible to navigate alone. Whether you're untangling relationship dynamics, exploring your identity, or just trying to make it through a tough season, Carly offers the same blend of warmth and realness. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in DBT while incorporating CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and the Gottman Method. Every session is tailored to individual needs, integrating trauma-informed, mindfulness-based, relational, and client-centered perspectives. She believes in meeting you where you are, even if where you are feels messy, confused, or stuck. Because while Carly believes that the only way out is through, she also knows you don't have to go through it alone. She creates a space where your challenges are met with compassion, your strengths are recognized, and your potential for growth is nurtured. When not in the therapy room, you'll find Carly baking sourdough loaves, crocheting her feelings into blankets, or reading three wildly different books at once.</image:caption>
